Super Lawyers, the Thomson Reuters lawyer rating service, has published its exclusive 2016 Top Lists of attorneys in each state. O’Hara, Ruberg, Taylor, Sloan & Sergent is pleased to announce that four of its lawyers, Michael J. O’Hara, Gary J. Sergent, Aaron M. Beck, and Megan E. Mersch, received this high honor and recognition.

The selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. Only up to five percent of lawyers in a state are named to Super Lawyers.
Michael J. O’Hara is a Partner with the firm. Michael has represented both individuals and businesses in a wide range of matters relating to employee and employer rights and responsibilities under State and Federal laws. He also regularly represents victims of medical negligence. Michael focuses his practice in the areas of employment discrimination, civil rights, medical malpractice and business law. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer every year from 2008 through 2016.
Gary J. Sergent is a Partner with the firm. He represents parties in general civil matters including personal injury; professional negligence; worker's compensation and business and property disputes. In criminal matters he represents individuals and organizations in complex drug, white collar and financial crimes He takes such cases in most area Federal and state courts. His experience as a litigator makes him well suited to resolve cases through negotiation, mediation, plea bargaining or trial. He has also served as a mediator in civil disputes and is frequently sought out as a mentor by other attorneys in the area. He currently serves as a Member of the Board of Governors of the Kentucky Bar Association. Gary has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Aaron M. Beck was named as a 2016 Super Lawyer Rising Star. To be eligible for inclusion in Rising Stars, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less. No more than 2.5 percent are named to Rising Stars. Aaron joined O'Hara, Ruberg, Taylor, Sloan & Sergent as Of Counsel in 2014. Aaron focuses his practice on criminal law and bankruptcy, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. He is a member of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association and Kentucky Bar Association. He previously served as Treasurer of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association Board of Directors. Aaron was also recognized in 2015 as a Super Lawyer Rising Star.
Megan E. Mersch is an associate with the firm and was also named as a 2016 Super Lawyers Rising Star in the field of Labor and Employment Law. Megan represents parties in general legal matters including employment law (representing employees who have been wrongfully terminated or discriminated against or harassed at work), state and federal criminal defense, business law, and workers’ compensation. Megan is also a Criminal Justice Act Panel member for the federal Eastern District of Kentucky.
David B. Sloan, a partner with the firm has previously been named to Super Lawyers in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2011. David concentrates his practice in the areas of trial practice, particularly in the areas of insurance defense litigation including personal injury, products liability, and property damage defense litigation. David also practices in the areas of insurance coverage issues, criminal law and workers compensation. David has served as President of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association, as a Member of the Board of Governors of the Kentucky Bar Association and as President of the Kentucky Bar Association, 2005 – 2006. He was appointed in July 2015 to the Kentucky Bar Association Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Commission.
